This year’s Local Charities Day will take place on 14 December and you can find out more from the blog by our new Minister for Sport and Civil Society Mims Davies.
Local Charities Day builds on the work of our recently published Civil Society Strategy, where we committed to enhancing relationships between businesses, charities and local areas, to help communities grow. And that’s what they want to focus on this Local Charities Day.
Each year Local Charities Day shines a spotlight on the incredible work local charities do to build healthy and happy local communities. They want to see everybody getting involved this year to show their appreciation for the charities in their area - volunteering their time, donating, celebrating their local charity champions and supporting in every way they can.
This year, the organisers are highlighting the importance of giving by encouraging people to pledge their time to a local charity, alongside championing the phenomenal and life-changing work of local charities, while shining a huge spotlight on local charity champions – the unsung heroes who always go the extra mile for their charity, the people and causes they support.
Community Waltham Forest also offers one to one Volunteer advice if you are looking to gain some new skills or want to meet new people in the community. Click here for more details and how to book.
