The A B Charitable Trust (ABCT) is an independent, UK based grant-making organisation founded in 1990, aiming to support charities that defend human rights and promote respect for vulnerable individuals whatever their circumstances.
The grants range in size, with most grants being in the range of £10,000 to £20,000. ABCT supports charities working where human dignity is imperilled and where there are opportunities for human dignity to be affirmed.
To be eligible, projects should address at least one of the following categories:
Migrants, refugees and asylum seekers
Criminal justice and penal reform
Human rights, particularly access to justice
There is particular interest in charities that seek to address the needs of the most marginalised and neglected groups in society.
The funding can be used for core costs. In their financial year 2017/18 the trust made over £1.6m in grants.
