Community Waltham Forest and the Borough of Culture team invited community groups and organisations to One Hoe Street to discuss the Borough of Culture programme, its community outreach and its community legacy, as well as the wonderful new community space that is One Hoe Street.
We are very grateful to everyone who attended.
We thought this was important, having talked to many of you, because whilst some organisations have been engaged with seeking grants for their creative projects, others have not been so engaged. We know that the Borough of Culture year promises and prioritises very extensive community engagement, and the team delivering it recognise that the community sector across the borough can support with this, and help make sure that the maximum number and diversity of local residents are encouraged to participate and benefit. It is going to be a unique opportunity for building community and engaging diverse residents with a great programme of activities, and we would love groups and organisations to spread the word about the programme (the vast majority of which will be free of charge), so that this can happen.
You can find information about the Borough of Culture programme here and we will upload the presentation about the about the Borough of Culture here shortly.
You can see some of the comments that groups left about their wishes and needs from the year here.
You can contact Jessica, who co-created these events on behalf of the Borough of Culture and who would love to engage with more community groups and organisations, here.
