Walthamstow Garden Party - call for VCSE speakers

‘ What’s your Utopian vision for Waltham Forest? – Opportunity to promote your groups work’

Community Waltham Forest are delighted to be partnering with The Mill to organise the Community Marquee at the Walthamstow Garden Party on 15-16 July.

Many organisations will have participated in the marquee, run by The Mill, before.  As well as our involvement, you might be interested in some other changes that The Mill are making in partnership with us:

• We are inviting organisations working and or delivering in Waltham Forest . We are representing the entirety of the borough this year not just E17.
• The marquee will now be named The Forest Community Marquee
• We will not be offering stalls this year.
• We will be inviting organisations to, instead, deliver a 10-minute talk.

What's your Utopian vision for Waltham Forest?

We would like you to respond to this question through the lens of your organisation’s mission, vision, values and what you are doing.  What utopia is your organisation striving to create?  Please feel able to explore this idea as freely as possible. The more open and exploratory your talk is the more likely that the public will become engaged with the work you do. Fellowship Island (where the marquee is located at WGP) is focusing on an eco-sustainability theme this year. We would like to encourage you to adopt this focus in your talk, however the focus of your talk is up to you.

You will be given a stand for 30 minutes after your talk, for the public to come to get more specific information about your organisation. We are encouraging organisations to not give out leaflets, but this is your decision. The reason behind this is to minimise the amount of materials that may be thrown away. There will be a notice board for all organisations involved to display their contact details as a point of reference for the public. Please make sure that you have an additional person to support you with your talk, and in case of an unexpected situation, that they can deliver your talk if you are unable to do so.

Please note this opportunity is only open to charities, community groups, grassroots, volunteer-led, not-for-profit and social enterprise organisations. We regret that this opportunity is not open to public sector services, private companies, political parties, religious groups or campaigns.
